I’m Anna Lipsane Heatherley, the artist behind the paintings you see here, each one a little piece of my heart, shaped in colour and texture.
My story
First things first- I paint because I can’t not paint. It’s how I breathe, how I listen, how I speak to the world and to myself. Art feeds my soul garden , it’s my way of tending to life.
I was born in Latvia and since 2017 have called Australia home. My studio rests among the trees in the Dandenong Ranges , my sanctuary, where the light and silence become part of the work. I’m a self-taught artist. It’s been a long, winding journey to find my voice and my rhythm.
My paintings always carry the stories I live through- things I feel, notice, question, and grow from. Right now, my focus is on Stories of Humanity, a body of work close to my heart, inspired by shared threads that connect us all.

Reflections of Onion
A simple, everyday vegetable—yet containing so much information.
It has roots, skin, a core, and sprouts.
A distinctive smell, and the ability to make us cry.
If you want to get to the core without using a knife,
you have to peel off the crunchy, pretty layers of skin,
and then continue, layer by layer—
most likely crying while doing it.
The roots are still there, even if it’s been sitting in your pantry for months.
In cold and darkness, the onion has started a new chapter and sprouted.
And you know where the sprouting happens?
In its core.

Mushroom season always stirs something in me.
Maybe it’s the way they appear overnight, like little secrets breaking through the earth. Maybe it’s how they remind me to trust the unseen—what’s working quietly in the dark.
This painting grew from that place. A soft, reverent piece for these misty days, when the forest hums and everything feels a little more alive.
I’ve always felt close to mushrooms—curious, enchanted, a little in love.
